BB Creme vs. CC Creme...what's the difference??

I've seen a lot of articles lately on both of these types of make-up so I figured I'd do some research and bring it to YOU, my lovely followers:)

I personally am a huge fan of BB cream and have worn it for quite a while, but I know nothing about CC cream. What's the difference? Is one better for my skin than the other? I wanted some answers.

Let's start by listing out the facts on BB Creme (Blemish Balm):
  • it acts as a tinted moisturizer (this is what sold me in the first place!) and evens out skin tone
  • the rest of the world has been using it for quite some time, but us slow westerners are catching on
  • often mineral-based and organic
  • they provide serious protection against UVA and UVB rays
  • thinner than foundation (BIG WIN!), yet provides full coverage
  • full of anti-oxidants that hydrate and protect skin
  • Asians love it because it treats blemishes-apparently having porcelain skin in their culture is a big deal? who knew?! I'm certainly not opposed...
And the facts on CC Creme (Color Control):
  • it's an updated twist on BB Creme, providing more natural looking skin (sometimes BB Cremes can be too light)
  • again, the Asians got us on this one and have been using it for awhile
  • more of a flawless look than a BB Creme

I personally am not a tons and tons of make-up person (ahem, foundation). I'm long past those days. And by long, I mean since college. I want a natural, dewey, sun-kissed look. Not the thick, cakey, it-took-500-foundation-brush-swipes. Both of these types of coverage will accomplish that for you.

While I said I use the BB Creme (CC Creme doesn't seem to be as widespread over here yet and harder to get), I will agree that it's hard to find the match for my skin tone. And that seems to be a popular problem. They haven't come out yet with too many color options to perfectly match skin tones.

To fix this problem,  I have to mix up a couple products.

Here's my favorite way to accomplish this:

By mixing these two together, I'm reaching the color that matches my skin tone perfectly. It also feels so light and fresh, it's as if I'm wearing moisturizer only. Needless to say, I'm a huge fan.

Here's the big drawback (which is why I wish I could find a CC cream, but I have sensitive skin and none of the products that are sold drugstores or Wal-Marts work on me-and that's where most of the CC Creams are)....it's expensive to pull this look together. Estee Lauder and Lancome only have two, I repeat two color options. Seriously?! Can't a cosmetic conglomerate as big as y'all come out with more than two colors?! Or come out with a CC Cream that provides better color coverage?

But I love the feel, so I'm willing to splurge. I've long gotten over it:)

Have any of y'all used either of these? What are your favorites? And what products do you like? Oh, and if I'm wrong on any of these facts, let me know. I'm no make-up expert that's for sure!

  1. Wow, I can't believe there are only two color options! That is shocking and clearly not going to work on the majority of people.
I currently don't use BB or CC creme, but it's good to hear about them and get a feel for what products are out there and what I could use.

  3. The CC Cream has become popular thanks to the Asian pioneer brand Rachel K Cosmetics created Rachel Kum - Miss universe Singapore 2009. They Launched their first CC cream in 2011 and looks like all the major brands are now coming in their trail to make it the big thing of 2013.
